With its roots in the Nordic countries PEFC now has grown to become the worlds leading certification system for sustainable forest management.
When founded in 1999, PEFC made it possible for the local and small family owned forests to become certified. Before that only the big players could be certified. This meant a huge step in changing the way we look at sustainable forestry today.
Around the globe
Today PEFC are present in 56 countries around the globe and in each one of these countries we care for the local forests to make a big impact and ensuring them to be around for generations to come.
More responsible together
Together with the forest owners, forest contractors and companies in the value chain we have created the market's largest supply of sustainable and climate-smart wood based products.
Besides preserving and strengthening biodiversity and being a cornerstone in the fight against climate change PEFC represents numerous of values. And your business will undoubtedly benefit from them..
Packaging stakeholders can trust that PEFC-certified wood comes from sustainable forestry.
PEFC leads the market by offering the largest availability of certified wood material and pulp.
PEFC certification is simple and user-friendly, making it easier for businesses and customers in their daily operations.
PEFC certification is a global standard used in over 50 countries, making it well-known and respected worldwide and enabling collaborations among stakeholders in the packaging sector in many countries.
The PEFC certificate holder becomes part of a global alliance that contributes to the UN's sustainability goals. Some of the goals we primarily focus on in the nordic countries are:
Building with wood makes cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Wood is the only renewable material on a large scale currently available.
Renewability, resource efficiency, and responsible sourcing of forest products are central to sustainable production and consumption given the wealth of benefits forest can provide.
Protect the planet
Forests are at the heart of the transition to low-carbon economies.
Life on land
Forests are among the most important repositories of biodiversity and their sustainable management is essential not only for conservation, but also for sustaining ecosystem functioning.
Good health and well-being
By regulating the climate, providing clean air and water, and through recreational benefits that support physical and mental health, forests play a significant role for our well-being.
Partnership for the goals
Partnerships are integral to forest management on all geographic levels, operationally as well as politically.
